Description
Micranthemum tweediei ‘Monte Carlo’ is the carpet we recommend to almost everyone. Round, bright green leaves, horizontal growth, and a tolerance for medium light that HC Cuba simply does not have.
Tissue culture, not potted
This is a sealed laboratory cup, grown in sterile agar. No snails, no algae, no pesticides, no duckweed. One cup plants roughly 20 × 10 cm at a 2 cm spacing.
Planting method
Divide the cup into six to eight portions, not individual stems. Trim the agar off completely under running water. Plant with tweezers at a shallow angle, pushing until only the top two leaves show. Then do not touch it for two weeks — the runner phase looks worse before it looks better.
Requirements
Medium light (roughly 40–60 PAR at substrate) and CO₂ injection for a dense, low carpet. Without CO₂ it will still grow, but it grows upward rather than across and needs trimming every fortnight.
Specifications
One cup, approximately 5 cm diameter. Grown in-vitro. Best planted within three days of arrival; refrigerate unopened if you must wait.
