Description
Anubias nana ‘Petite’ is the smallest of the nana family and the most useful plant in a dark corner. Leaves stay under 2 cm, growth is glacial, and it will tolerate conditions that would kill almost anything else.
Where to use it
Wedged into wood crevices, along the base of a stone, or anywhere the light does not reach. Because it grows so slowly it never needs pruning, which makes it the ideal detail plant for a layout you do not want to maintain weekly.
Never bury the rhizome
The thick green rhizome must stay above the substrate or it will rot. Tie it to wood or stone with cotton thread, or use a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate gel — both work, the glue is faster.
Requirements
Low to medium light. CO₂ optional. It grows in almost any water. The only thing it dislikes is being buried and being nibbled by plecos.
Specifications
Potted specimen, 5–7 leaves, rhizome 3–5 cm. Grown emersed in our nursery, so expect a short transition period where old leaves may yellow.
